Certified insurance policy translation<\/h2>\n

Do you want to have your insurance policy<\/a> translated for a foreign insurer, employer or authority? The translation is handled by a translator registered in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv) and carries a stamp, signature and statement. What is an insurance policy?<\/h3>\n

A insurance policy<\/a> is the document that your insurer issues as proof of the insurance contract. The policy sets out what is insured, which cover and conditions apply and which rights and obligations you and the insurer have. Because this text contains many legal and financial terms, a foreign authority often asks for a sworn translation<\/a> in which nothing about the content changes.<\/p>\n

When do you need a sworn translation?<\/h3>\n

An ordinary translation is usually not sufficient for official use. A sworn translation<\/a> is attached by the translator to a copy of your original policy and signed, stamped and provided with a statement that the translation is correct and complete. This way a foreign insurer, authority or employer can verify that the text matches the original.<\/p>\n

Apostille or legalisation<\/h3>\n

For use abroad the receiving authority sometimes asks for an apostille<\/a>. An apostille<\/a> is a statement from the court that confirms the signature of the sworn translator<\/a> in question. Between countries that are party to the Apostille Convention (the Hague Convention of 1961), the apostille<\/a>suffices; for other countries a more extensive legalisation<\/a> may be needed.
