What is transcription?

Transcription is the process of turning the spoken word into written text. We provide transcriptions for interviews, focus groups, podcasts, meetings and minutes, research, lectures and YouTube videos. You supply the recording in a common format such as .mp3 or .wav, and you get an accurate transcript back by email. Do you have a multilingual project? Then we can transcribe the recording in the spoken language, or deliver the text translated directly into the language of your choice.

Types of transcription

You decide how it is written out, depending on what you use the transcript for:

  • Verbatim transcript: a literal write-up of everything that is said. Suitable for research, legal files and analyses where every word counts.
  • Edited transcript: a condensed write-up that leaves out filler words and repetitions. Pleasant to read for summaries, minutes minutes and reports.
