Certified UWV document translation
Do you need a legally valid translation of a document from the UWV (the Employee Insurance Agency)? What is a certified translation of a UWV document?
A sworn translation is produced by a translator sworn in by a Dutch court and registered in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv). The translator attaches the translation to a copy of your source document and adds a stamp, a signature and a statement that the translation is correct and complete. This makes the translation legally valid and accepted by official authorities.
Why have a UWV decision translated under oath?
An ordinary translation is usually not enough when an authority abroad or a legal party asks for evidence. A UWV-decision determines rights and obligations regarding benefits, incapacity for work or reintegration. For submission to a foreign authority, an insurer or a court, a sworn translation is required. We translate your document into the language the receiving party requires.

What is a sworn translation of a document?
A sworn translation consists of your source document, the translation and a signed statement in which the translator confirms that the translation is correct and complete. The translation bears the stamp and signature of a sworn translatorand therefore has official status with authorities.
How do you know whether a translator is sworn?
A sworn translator has been sworn in by a Dutch court and registered in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv). This register is public and can be consulted via Bureau Wbtv. We work only with translators in the Rbtv, so that your translation is legally valid.
What does a certified translation of a UWV document cost?

Can I also legalise my UWV document or have it fitted with an apostille?
Yes. For use abroad, an apostille needed. A apostille is issued by the court under the Apostille Convention (The Hague Convention of 1961). When ordering, you can indicate that you want your translation fitted with an apostille or legalisation.
