Certified guarantee translation with stamp
A guarantee is a private declaration with which you stand surety for someone else, for example financially or for the stay of a foreign guest. If you want to use this document abroad or with an authority such as the IND, a sworn translation is often needed. When do you need a certified translation of your guarantee?
A guarantee is often requested for a visa application, a residence application with the IND or an application at an embassy. Foreign authorities usually accept a Dutch document only with an official translation. A sworn translation ensures that your guarantee retains the same legal value in the target language.
What makes the translation legally valid?
A sworn translation is produced by a translator registered in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv) and sworn in by a Dutch court. The translator attaches the translation to a copy of your guarantee and adds a statement, stamp and signature. This establishes that the translation is a faithful representation of the original.
Adding an apostille or legalisation
For use abroad, the authority sometimes asks for an apostille. An apostille is issued by the court and confirms the authenticity of the signature of the sworn translatorin the Netherlands.
