What is a sworn translation of a visa?
A sworn translation is a translation made by a translator sworn in by a Dutch court and registered in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv). The translator attaches a statement to the translation and provides it with a signature and a stamp. This makes the translation a legally valid document that is accepted by authorities such as the IND and foreign embassies.
Why do you need a sworn translation of your visa?
A visa is issued by the IND or by the embassy or consulate of the destination country. When you submit this document to an official authority and it is not in the requested language, an ordinary translation is usually not sufficient. With a sworn translation the translator confirms that the translation is a correct and complete rendering of your original visaso that the receiving authority can rely on the content. If the destination country needs additional legalisation you can also have your document fitted with an apostille or legalisation.

What is a sworn translation?
A sworn translation is a translation made by a sworn translator. That is a translator who, on the basis of training and professional skills, has been sworn in by the court and is registered in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv), which makes the translation legally valid.
How do you know whether a translator is sworn?
In the Netherlands the translator must be sworn in by a Dutch court. You can check this in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv). Ecrivus International works only with sworn and qualified translators, so that your translation is provided with a valid statement, signature and stamp.
How do you obtain a sworn translation of your visa?
You select the number of pages and the language combination, place the order and upload a photo or scan of your visain question. A sworn translator translates the document faithfully, attaches a statement to it and provides the translation with a stamp and signature. You receive the translation by registered post with Track & Trace.
Can ChatGPT translate a visa or legal document?
No. An official translation requires a signed statement of accuracy from a qualified, sworn translator. An AI tool cannot legally provide that statement, so such a translation is not legally valid and is not accepted by the IND or an embassy.
