What is a sworn translation of a statement?

A sworn translation is an official translation made by a sworn translator. The translator adds a statement with a stamp and signature stating that the translation is a faithful and accurate rendering of the original document. This makes the translated statement legally valid and accepted by authorities, courts and governments. In the Netherlands the translator must be sworn in by a court and registered in the Rbtv for this.

Does your statement need to be used abroad? Then an apostille is needed.
