Certified non-resident extract (RNI) translation
You can have your extract non-resident translated under oath at Ecrivus International. We provide a legally valid sworn translation with a stamp, so that you can use your extract RNI abroad or with a foreign authority. The translation costs from €59 and is easy to order online.
What is a non-resident extract (RNI)?
The extract non-resident comes from the Non-Residents Records Database (RNI). The RNI is part of the Personal Records Database (BRP) and contains the data of people who do not, or no longer, live in the Netherlands but still deal with the Dutch government. You request the extract from the municipality, at one of the RNI counters in the Netherlands. The extract shows, among other things, your name, date of birth, citizen service number (BSN), nationality and your foreign address. For use abroad a sworn translation is needed.
Why a sworn translation?
A sworn translation is produced by a translator registered in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv). The translator provides the translation with a stamp, signature and statement. This makes the translation legally valid and accepted by official authorities. For use abroad you sometimes also need an apostille or legalisation is needed. An apostille is issued by the court under the Apostille Convention (the Hague Convention of 1961).

What is a non-resident extract (RNI)?
The extract from the Non-Residents Records Database is proof that you are registered as a non-resident in the Netherlands. The data comes from the RNI, which is part of the Personal Records Database (BRP).
What does an RNI extract show?
The standard extract shows, among other things, your name, date of birth, place of birth, gender, nationality, citizen service number (BSN) and your foreign address if this is known.
How do I request an extract from the RNI?
If you are registered in the Non-Residents Records Database, you request the extract from the municipality, online or by post, at one of the RNI counters in the Netherlands.
When is a non-resident registered in the BRP?
The RNI contains the data of people who do not, or no longer, live in the Netherlands but still deal with the Dutch government, and of people who live in the Netherlands for less than four months. The RNI is part of the BRP.
Is a sworn translation of my extract legally valid?
Yes. A sworn translation is produced by a translator registered in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv) and carries a stamp, signature and statement. This makes the translation legally valid.
