Certified court decision translation

Do you need a sworn translation of a decision for official use? At Ecrivus International you have your decision sworn-translated online, including the stamp, signature and statement of a sworn translatoras standard. What is a court decision?

A decision is an official decree from a government body or the court. Think of a divorce order from the court, a decision on custody or contact, or a ruling by a municipality or implementing body. Because it is a formal legal document, foreign authorities, embassies and the IND often ask for a sworn translation rather than an ordinary translation.

Why a sworn translation is needed

A sworn translation is produced by a translator who has been sworn in by a Dutch court and is entered in the Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv). The translator provides the translation with a stamp, signature and a closing statement stating that the translation is a faithful representation of the original document. This means the translation is recognised as legally valid by courts, municipalities and official authorities. A translation without this certification is usually not accepted by such authorities.

What does a sworn translation of a court decision cost?

At Ecrivus International a sworn translation of a decision starts from €59 per page. The final price depends on the number of pages and the language combination. You see the rate immediately when you make your selection at the top of this page.

What are the rules for a sworn translation?

The sworn translator declares that the translation is a faithful and accurate representation of the original document or a copy of it. The translation also bears the stamp and signature of the sworn translatorthemselves. The translator must have been sworn in by a Dutch court and be entered in the Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators.

How can I have a sworn translation legalised?

A sworn translation can be legalised by the court. The court then checks the signature on the certification statement and confirms that it is the signature of the sworn translator concerned. For use in countries party to the Apostille Convention (Hague Convention, 1961) this is done with an apostille. We can arrange this for you.

What is the difference between a certified translation and an apostille?

A sworn translation is the substantive translation of your decisioncertified by a sworn translator. An apostille is a separate stamp that confirms the authenticity of the signature on the document for use abroad. For many international applications you need both.

Can ChatGPT translate my court decision legally?

No. An AI tool cannot produce a legally valid sworn translation for you. An official translation requires a signed statement of accuracy from a translator sworn in by a court. Only a human sworn translator can legally issue it.
