What is a request for postponement?

A request for postponement is a letter with which you ask an authority or party for more time, for example a deferral of payment or an extension within an ongoing procedure. You usually address such a request to the party that sets the deadline, such as the Tax Administration, a court or a creditor. Because the document is drawn up by or on behalf of the applicant, there is no fixed issuing authority as there is with a deed. A sworn translation is produced by a translator registered in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv). The translator provides the translation with a stamp, signature and a statement that the translation matches the source document. This makes the translation legally valid and accepted by official authorities. For use abroad, an apostille needed. A apostille is issued by the court under the Apostille Convention (the Hague Convention of 1961) and confirms the authenticity of the signature on the document.
